Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland Name Joint Military Brigade After Hetman Ostrozkyi

Ukraine, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Poland have renamed their joint military brigade after Hetman Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi.

The Ministry of Defense has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, on October 5 in Lublin (Poland) Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak together with Defense Ministers of Poland and Lithuania participated in an official event to honor the second anniversary of creation of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian military brigade.

According to Poltorak, in 2018, the brigade will participate in trainings of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 27, the Cabinet of Ministers approved naming the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian military brigade after Great Hetman Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi.

Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi (the 16th century) was a remarkable statesman, representative of the Ukrainian upper noble society, who contributed profoundly to the politics, military and clergy of his time.

In the battle near Orsha, the combined forces of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine led by Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi crashed an army of the Moscow State in a resounding defeat.
