The World Bank calls for termination of the moratorium on farmland sale in Ukraine from 2018.
World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine Satu Kahkonen said this at the presentation of the new economic review and macroeconomic outlook for Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
She said that the level of agricultural yield in Ukraine is much lower than in European countries.
Kahkonen added that Ukraine has to develop agriculture and attract investments in the sector.
According to the World Bank, transparent land market will help unlock the potential of the sector.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine stated that implementation of the land reform in Ukraine was not one of the major requirements for another tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
President Petro Poroshenko calls for the speediest implementation of the land reform and opening an opportunity for sale of farmlands.
