Linguistic Examination Reveals No Separatism In Statements Of Yanukovych

A linguistic examination has established no signs of separatism in statement made by former president Viktor Yanukovych.

Head Judge Vladyslav Deviatko said this at the Thursday hearing at the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The court found no language indicating that Yanukovych made calls to overthrow the constitutional order of Ukraine neither in his interviews in the media, public statements or his letter [to Russian President Vladimir Putin] dated March 1, 2014" the court said in its conclusion.

The expert examination also did not find direct enticements to an aggressive war in the words of former president.

At the same time, the experts noted that, under the circumstances, the statements made by Yanukovych and his letter to Putin could be used to launch activities that would interfere with sovereignty and integrity and infringe state borders of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Thursday, September 28, 2017, the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv continued on merits hearing of the high treason case against former president Viktor Yanukovych.
