Ukraine has climbed four positions to 81st in the Global Competitiveness Index.

This is stated in the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report 2017-2018, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Ukraine is ranked 81 out of 137 countries.

According to the report, Ukraine rose from 130th to 120th in the "Financial market development" sub-index, from 129th to 118th in the "Institutions" sub-index), and from 128th to 121st in the "Macroeconomic environment" sub-index.

Ukraine also improved its rankings in the "goods market efficiency" sub-index and the "business sophistication" sub-index.

However, Ukraine's ranking dropped from 52nd to 61st in the "innovation" sub-index.

According to the report, the most problematic factors for doing business in Ukraine are inflation, corruption, policy instability, tax rates, and tax regulations.

Russia rose five places to 38th in the Global Competitiveness Index while Poland rose to 39th, Romania to 68th, Slovakia to 59th, Hungary to 60th, and Moldova to 89th. Belarus is not included in the ranking.
