Businessman and former Vice Prime Minister Serhii Tihipko, who owns TAScombank and Universal Bank, intends to purchase VS Bank (Lviv).
The press service of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine announced to Ukrainian News Agency.
On August 23, Tihipko applied to the Antimonopoly Committee for a permission to purchase indirectly a shareholding in VS Bank.
The Antimonopoly Committee is considering the application.
The National Bank of Ukraine has confirmed that a Ukrainian citizen submitted documents on August 28 for purchasing indirectly 99.9% of shares of VS Bank.
The documents are being considered.
The Ukrainian legislation envisages that the National Bank of Ukraine can consider documents within three months.
At present, Sberbank of Russia indirectly owns 99.9% of share of VS Bank.
According to the data of the central bank of Ukraine, as at July 1, 2017, VS occupied the 28th position in terms of the size of its assets (UAH 3.6 billion) among 88 operating Ukrainian commercial banks.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Serhii Tihipko is the owner of the TAS financial and industrial group.
In the financial market the group is presented by TAScombank and TAs insurance company.
In December 2016, Serhii Tihipko indirectly bought the 99.4% share of Kyiv-based Aegon Life Ukraine insurance company.
In December 2016, Tihipko closed the deal on purchase of Universal Bank.
According to the data of the central bank of Ukraine, as at July 1, 2017, the bank occupied the 19th position in terms of the size of its assets (UAH 10.6 billion) among 88 operating Ukrainian commercial banks.
