President Petro Poroshenko has stated that the European Parliament has upheld an initiative that suggested cancelling roaming fees for citizens of Ukraine while they stay in territories of the EU member states.

President wrote this on Twitter microblog, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"My initiative concerning revocation of roaming fees for Ukrainians two days ago was supported by the European Parliament. We will continue expanding cooperation with the EU," President said at a meeting with representatives of Ukrainian and foreign businesses.

Press service of the President informed that the aforesaid initiative was included in draft documents to be considered at the Eastern Partnership summit (Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Moldova) in Brussels (Belgium) on November 24.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin said he hoped that special proposals suggesting scrapping roaming fees for Ukrainians in the territory of the European Union will be elaborated before the said summit.

In May 2017, Poroshenko ordered the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communication and Information to look into the matter of lowing fees for international roaming services for Ukrainians when they stay in the territory of the European Union.
