Yuzhnyi Seaport Unloading First Batch Of Anthracite Coal From U.S.

The Yuzhnyi Commercial Seaport in Odesa region has begun to unload the first batch of anthracite coal supplied by the XCoal Energy and Resources company (Pennsylvania, United States) to the thermal power plants of the Centrenergo state power generating company.

The press service of the port announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement reads that the Ocean Ambitious ship arrived in the early hours of September 13 with 62,000 tons of anthracite coal.

According to the statement, the port is planning to unload over 295,000 tons of anthracite coal from the U.S. company to be delivered to the port by four vessels within a week.

The statement reads that stevedores will unload the first batch within three days.

The press service of the port announced earlier that United States Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian, XCoal Energy and Resources' Chief Executive Officer Ernie Thrasher, and the Centrenergo power company's acting General Director Oleh Kozemko would attend the official ceremony marking the unloading of the coal.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the state-owned Centrenergo power generating company reached agreement with the XCoal Energy and Resources for supply of anthracite coal in late July.

XCoal Energy and Resources will supply about 700,000 tons of anthracite coal to Ukraine.
