Ukrzaliznytsia To Launch Odesa - Chisinau Train By 2018

Ukrzaliznytsia public joint-stock company together with the Railway of Moldova state company intend to launch Odesa - Chisinau train by the end of 2017.

Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We are witnessing the revival of international traffic and will develop it, we are now working on the new direct route Mukachevo - Budapest, we will develop the direction of Kovel - Chelm with the growth of passenger traffic. Next year we will start the train towards Romania" acting board chairperson of the Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov said.

Priority, according to Kravtsov, is also the development of domestic passenger transport routes to cover most of the settlements and make transportation and transfer hubs convenient.

Acting board chairperson of the Ukrzaliznytsia also stressed that the control over the observance of the schedule of passenger trains was strengthened.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrzaliznytsia finished the first half of the year with EBITDA of UAH 8.7 billion.

In compliance with the international financial reporting standards, in 2016, Ukrzaliznytsia cut its loss 2.3 times or by UAH 9.5 billion to UAH 7.3 billion year over year.

In 2016, Ukrzaliznytsia upped revenues from sales by UAH 6.4 billion to UAH 66.6 billion.

The Ukrzaliznytsia public joint-stock company started its economic operations on December 1, 2015.

Ukrzaliznytsia incorporates Donetsk, Lviv, Odesa, South, Southwestern, and Prydniprovska state-run railroad enterprises, as well as other production and technological enterprises and organizations engaged in provision of freight and passenger carriages.
