Border Guard Officers Serve Saakashvili With Protocol On Illegal Crossing Of State Border

Officers of the State Border Guard Service have served former chairperson of the Odesa Regional State Administration / Leader of the New Forces Movement Mikheil Saakashvili with a protocol on an administrative offence over illegal crossing of the state border (Shehyni checkpoint, Lviv region).

Saakashvili signed the protocol near the Leopolis hotel in Lviv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

At the same time, Saakashvili insisted the protocol had no legal power.

An officer of the State Border Guard Service said the protocol would be considered on September 18 at 3 p.m. by the Mostyskyi District Court of Lviv region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 10, Saakashvili and his supporters broke through the state border at Shehyni checkpoint into the territory of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine offered its assistance in investigation into the illegal crossing of the state border.

Saakashvili's lawyer Markiyan Halabala said the protocol served by the law enforcers was invalid as the law requires it to be served within three hours after the offence and not later.
