Poroshenko Praises Frontier Guards For Not Using Arms During Incident With Saakashvili's Supporters At Border Checkpoint On September 10

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko says frontier guards did right when they decided not to use arms against Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia and former head of the Odesa regional state administration, and his supporters who illegally crossed the border at Shehyni checkpoint on September 10.

President Poroshenko gave the position on the eve of a meeting on the issue of the healthcare sector on Monday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I think our frontier guards who showed their best qualities during the antiterrorist operation did the right thing and did not use arms although they had every legal right to do so," he said.

President Poroshenko says the decision of the frontier guards prevented aggravation of the conflict.
