Poroshenko: UN Peacekeeping Mission Deployment Will Not Be Agreed With DPR, LPR Representatives

President Petro Poroshenko rules out agreement of deployment of the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in Donbas with representatives of terrorist organizations Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR).

The President of Ukraine said this in his annual state of the nation address at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Poroshenko noted that the said mission must go in line with principles of execution of peacekeeping operations of the UN, which excludes any participation of representatives of the aggressor and a party of the conflict.

The President of Ukraine added that such mission must be deployed in the whole temporarily occupied territory including uncontrolled Section of the Russian - Ukrainian state border.

Poroshenko considers that deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in the whole territory of Donbas would become a real breakthrough in the process of peaceful settlement.

"Russia continue provocations, preventing effective work of the OSCE observers, providing militants with weapons. In this situation, deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission would become a real breakthrough in the process of peaceful settlement and a powerful factor of de-escalation," the President said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine considers that the statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin on deployment of UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas only along with the contact line was another attempt of the Russian Federation to present the aggression exclusively as an internal Ukrainian conflict.
