Poroshenko Calling On Rada To Stand By IMF Program, Adopt Pension Reform

President Petro Poroshenko calls on the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to implement the program of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and adopt pension and health reform.

Petro Poroshenko said this in his annual state of the nation address at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

He reminded that every kopeck received by Ukraine from the IMF is carefully kept in the international reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine.

"The international reserves today exceed USD 18 billion, though as at February 2015 they shrank to USD 5 billion. The hryvnia exchange rate that plummeted in 2014 - 2015 has remained respectively the same over the last two years," the President added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 11, 2015, the IMF approved the EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program for Ukraine with the total volume of USD 17.5 billion for the period of four years.

Ukraine received the first tranche worth USD 5 billion in March 2015, the second one worth USD 1.7 billion in August 2015, the third one worth USD 1 billion in September 2016 and the fourth one worth USD 1 billion in April 2017.

In 2017, Ukraine expects two more tranches from the IMF.
