President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has enacted a decision of July 10 of the National Security and Defense Council on measures to enhance cyber security in the country.
Ukrainian News Agency learned this from presidential decree No.254 of August 30.
The resolution of the National Security and Defense Council instructs the Cabinet of Ministers to provide financing of design works on creation of a protected data procession center for state electronic and information resources.
The Cabinet of Ministers shall regulate within 3 months a question of banning state bodies, state enterprises, state institutions and organizations from purchasing services on access to the internet from providers who do not have documents confirming that their data protection systems meet the requirements.
The Security Service of Ukraine, the State Special Communications Administration, and the National Police shall take steps to enhance cooperation with foreign partners to counteract cyber attacks on the critical information infrastructure.
A number of provisions of the presidential decrees are classified.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 13, President Petro Poroshenko issued a presidential decree to endorse a resolution of the National Security and Defense Council on measure to neutralize cyber threats.
On December 29, 2016, President Poroshenko said 6,500 planned cyber attacks on five government bodies and 31 information resources had been registered since November 2016. Investigation of a number of incidents indicated that special services of the Russian Federation were directly or indirectly involved in the attacks.
