On August 31, at 11.30 local time, the Turkey National Football Team came to the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv in order to hold a return match in their competitors’ field within the framework of the 7th round of the 2018 World Cup qualification phase. We would like to remind you that the score of our national teams’ recent matchup in Konya was 2:2 showing that the teams’ strength is approximately equal. This fact only made the players more thrilled. They are very determined. Besides, the history of their matchups boosts their confidence; namely, of the seven matches against the Turkey National Team Ukraine won just one – during the 2006 World Cup qualifications in Istanbul.

The team that came to Kharkiv includes:

Goalkeepers: Cenk Gönen, Harun Tekin, Volkan Babacan

Defensemen: Kaan Ayhan, Şener Özbayraklı, Çağlar Söyüncü, Mehmet Topal, Ömer Toprak, Serdar Aziz, Caner Erkin, İsmail Köybaşı.

Midfielders: Emre Belözoğlu, Selçuk İnan, Cengiz Ünder, Emre Mor, Yusuf Yazıcı, Nuri Şahin, Okay Yokuşlu, Ozan Tufan, Tolga Ciğerci, Arda Turan, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Yunus Mallı.

Forwards: Burak Yılmaz, Cenk Tosun, Enes Ünal.

Following the National Football Team, the delegation of the Turkish Football Federation will arrive in Kharkiv on September 1. It will be headed by the President of the TFF Yıldırım Demirören. On the delegation there will also come Yonet Can Tezel, Ambassador of Turkey to Ukraine, Furkan Yilmaz, Deputy Ambassador, Osman Askin Bak, Minister of Sports of the Turkish Republic, his deputies Ozan Veli Çakir, Burhon Demir, Yunus Aslanand and other officials.

Notably, our sportsmen and the VIP delegates will be accommodated in the best hotel of the city – the Kharkiv Palace 5* that belongs to the well-known Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky. The very Yaroslavsky whose favorite place for vacations has been Turkish Bodrum for quite a few years now. The very Yaroslavsky who was the President of Kharkiv’s FC “Metallist” some time ago. Our football fans remember the team’s matches with “Beşiktaş” within the European Football League in 2008. A twist of fate: in those days the current President of the TFF Yıldırım Demirören headed FC “Beşiktaş” and Yaroslavsky headed “Metallist”.

Today, a lot of Kharkiv’s infrastructure facilities are connected with the name of the Ex-President of the famous football club of Kharkiv. The new airport, the hotel where our sportsmen and delegations will be accommodated, the renovated stadium “Metallist” along with other facilities were (re)built due to Yaroslavsky’s investment within the framework of preparing Kharkiv for the 2012 European Football Championship. When it comes to the Kharkiv Palace Hotel, it was 100% investing. Since Euro-2012 when the UEFA headquarters were accommodated in the Kharkiv Palace 5* the Hotel has hospitably opened its doors for football teams. And all other guests as well as.

Our footballers will play in the “Metallist” Stadium – another apple of Yaroslavsky’s eye which he invested not only a lot of his money but a bit of his soul. Unfortunately after Yaroslavsky had to resign under pressure from his presidency in the FC “Metallist” and to sell his share of the stadium the affairs of the latter were going backward. Fosterling oligarchs of Yanukovich destroyed the once famous club with a long history and almost destroyed the stadium (its electricity supply was already cut off).

Anyway, the match between our two teams will be held in the “Metallist” Stadium. On September 2, everyone who has not yet gone to Ukraine to support our team will be able to watch the course of the game on TV screens and monitors. We would like to remind you that the match will start at 21.45 local time.

Ukrainian mass media are actively discussing the fact that “the Turkish have bought practically all tickets for the September 2 match”. By estimates, a great number of Turkish fans will come to see the game.
