The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has commenced investigation into the liquefied gas price hikes.

Valerii Poliukhovych, the state representative of the AMCU, announced this live on the Fifth Channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

He says the AMCU has sent inquiries to all participants in the market, to the State Fiscal Service, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, and the State Statistics Service.

"I hope within several weeks we will have full information for making a decision on possible opening a case on coordinated actions in the liquefied gas market," he said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of August 28, average retail prices for liquefied gas (commercial propane/butane mix) grew by 4.2% or 63 kopecks to UAH 15.81 per liter.

At the same time, in late July, the average price for liquefied gas was at the level of UAH 10.86 per liter.

Thus, over one month prices grew on average by UAH 5 per liter.

The A-95 Consulting Group attributes growth of prices to considerable decrease in liquefied gas supplies.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has urged the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Antimonopoly Committee and the State Fiscal Service to look into liquefied gas price hikes and to take measures for lowering fuel's prices and supporting competition in the market.
