Government Will Not Support Higher Prices Of Gas

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman says the government will not support any higher prices of natural gas.

The prime minister gave the position during his working trip in Mykolaiv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I would like to stress immediately that the government does not support any increase in prices of natural gas," he said.

The prime minister says there are no grounds for higher gas prices.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has instructed the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint stock company to correct before August 19 the figures of revenues of the company in the financial plan for 2017 in coordination with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and the Finance Ministry without higher prices of gas for households.

The draft financial plan of Naftogaz for 2017 foresaw that the natural gas prices to households will grow by 18.84% or by UAH 931 from October 1 to UAH 5,873 per 1,000 cubic meters (less VAT).

On July 19, the Cabinet of Ministers supported the draft financial plan of Naftogaz of Ukraine for 2017 on the whole but refused to increase the natural gas prices for households.
