The National Guards plans to call up for military service 200 citizens of Kyiv as a part of an extra draft call in August. Deputy Commander for Military Personnel of the National Guards Yaroslav Spodar told this to the Ukrainian News Agency. It is planned to conscript the total of 1,000 draftees. "Based on the statistics, we usually draft from 25 to 100 persons per region. In Kyiv garrison we plan to draft approximately 200 persons. Rumors that the draftees will be sent away from their local place of military service are not true," Major General Spodar said. Draftees with secondary school education will serve for 1.5 years, draftees with college diplomas will serve for one year. Sporad said the conscription goes according to plan, and on August 16, the first group of draftees was sent to military bases. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 7, President Petro Poroshenko announced a new extra call for service to the National Guards in August. The National Guards promised that the draftees will be involved only in guarding of courts and justice buildings.
