NACB Serves Notices Of Suspicion To Ukrzaliznytsia Ex-Deputy Head And 2 Company Officials

The National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NACB) has served notices of suspicion to a former deputy head of the Ukrzaliznytsia public joint stock company (then the Ukrzaliznytsia state railway administration) and two officials of the public joint stock company.

The NACB announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

They are suspected of power abuse causing loss of USD 10.2 million.

"On August 15, detectives of the NACB under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served notices of suspicion of committing crimes under articles 28 and 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (power abuse) to former deputy head of Ukrzaliznytsia, director of one of departments of Ukrzaliznytsia and deputy director of a branch of the public joint stock company," reads the statement.

The statement reads that the suspects provided discounts on cargo tariffs to several entities in early 2014.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in December 2016, the NACB said it investigated preferential tariff provided by Ukrzaliznytsia to the Rosneft open joint stock company (Russia) for transit shipment of boiler oil in the April - December 2015 period.

In compliance with the international financial reporting standards, in 2016 Ukrzaliznytsia cut its loss 2.3 times or by UAH 9.5 billion to UAH 7.3 billion year over year.

Ukrzaliznytsia upped its net revenues by UAH 6.4 billion to UAH 66.6 billion in 2016.

In compliance with national accounting standards, the enterprise's net profit was UAH 0.3 billion in 2016 over the loss of Ukrzaliznytsia was UAH 683.3 million in 2015.

The Ukrzaliznytsia public joint-stock company started financial activity on December 1, 2015.

Ukrzaliznytsia incorporates Donetsk, Lviv, Odesa, South, Southwestern, and Prydniprovska state-run railroad enterprises, as well as other production and technological enterprises and organizations engaged in provision of freight and passenger carriages.
