Prosecutor's Office Completes Investigation Into Circumstances Of Ilovaisk Tragedy

The Main Military Prosecutor's Office has completed the investigation into circumstances of deaths of Ukrainian militaries of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) during combat activities near Ilovaisk (Donetsk region) in August 2014.

The Main Military Prosecutor's Office has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In addition, based on the results of the investigation into aggressive actions (hybrid war) by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, 89 persons were charged with crimes related to the aggressive actions, including 43 citizens of Russia, of who 20 are high-ranking officials, including 11 persons from military leadership of the Russian Armed Forces.

The total of 41 indictments against 45 persons were handed over to court.

Based on the indictments, Ukrainian courts already accused 25 persons, including nine citizens of Russia, including three militaries of the Russian Armed Forces.

During the investigation, over 1,500 victims and over 2,200 witnesses were questioned; over 1,870 forensic examinations and legal expertise were conducted (forensic tests, criminal expert examination, military, phonoscopic, linguistic and other examinations).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the PGO had completed military expertise in the criminal investigation into deaths of soldiers of the antiterrorist operation near Ilovaisk, Donetsk region, in August 2014.
