The Kramatorsk-based Donbas Industrial Union of Corporation (ISD) continues to control the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works located on the territories of Luhansk region held by militants. An informed source told this to Ukrainian News Agency. According to the source, militants have not made attempts to seize the enterprise. According to the source, the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works does not manufacture products at present. The ISD has not commented on the situation at the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works since the blockade of the railway communications with the territories not controlled by the Ukrainian government. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, some 50 people in camouflage clothing, including parliamentary deputies Semen Semenchenko, Pavlo Kostenko, Taras Pastukh (all members of the Samopomich Association faction), and Volodymyr Parasiuk (independent) began blocking the movement of trains on the Svetlanov-Shipilova railway stretch in the Popasnia district of the Luhansk region on January 25, 2017. ISD stated significant financial losses for the period from February 13 to March 6 because of the rail blockade along the line of contact in the Donbas. According to ISD, in the period of forced downtime from February 13 to March 6, the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works did not produce 128,100 tons of pig iron, 139,200 tons of steel, 89,300 tons of metal slabs, 39,500 tons of rolled metal, and 115,500 tons of coke. On March 1, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR) announced the process of nationalization of nonresident enterprises on the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas. On March 15, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine decided to suspend cargo traffic across the contact line in Donbas. On March 15, the System Capital Management lost control of all its assets on territories not controlled by the Ukrainian government in Donbas.
