Ukraine Will Pay USD 450 Million To IMF Within 2014 Stand By Program

On Thursday, August 3, Ukraine will pay USD 450 million to the International Monetary Fund under the stand by program of 2014.

Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from Deputy Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Oleh Churii.

"The USD 450 million will be paid today. Everything is being currently formalized," he said.

In late April 2014, the IMF approved the loan program for USD 17.10 billion for Ukraine.

In early May 2014, it provided Ukraine with the first stand by tranche worth USD 3.19 billion.

On March 11, 2015, the IMF approved allocation of USD 17.5 billion under four-year EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program instead of the stand by program.

The IMF has decided to alter the previous stand by program for EFF in view of the country's need in longer cooperation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 11, 2015, the IMF approved the EFF program for Ukraine.

The first tranche worth USD 5 billion within the program was obtained in March 2015, the second one worth USD 1.7 billion in August 2015, the third one worth USD 1 billion in September 2016 and the fourth one of USD 1 billion in April 2017.

This year, Ukraine hopes to obtain two more IMF tranches.
