On August 15, the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv will interrogate Yurii Serheyev, the former head of Ukraine's delegation to the United Nations, as a witness in the case of former president Viktor Yanukovych accused of high treason.

Judge Vladyslav Deviatko announced this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko requested this.

According to Kravchenko, Serheyev, who resides in the United States, will be in Ukraine on August 15.

The defense of Yanukovych protested against the interrogation of Serheyev as it allegedly protracts the trial.

The interrogation of Serheyev will start at 2 p.m. on August 15.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 9, 2015, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appointed Volodymyr Yelchenko as the Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the United Nations to replace Serheyev.

Serheyev occupied the position of the head of the Ukraine's delegation to the UN between April 2007 and December 2015.
