RGC Trading Signs Contract With Eustream On Access To Gas Transport Facilities Of Slovakia

The Kyiv-based RGC Trading Company has signed a contract with the operator of Slovakia's gas transportation system - Eustream - on access to gas transport facilities of Slovakia.

RGC Trading announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The document signed with Eustream is another step in the execution of our strategy aiming at diversification of the resource base and making import gas supplies less expensive due to cutting operation expenses during supplies," said Artem Kompan, director of RGC Trading.

The contract enables RGC Trading to import gas from countries of the European Union.

The contract with Eustream opens direct access to the natural gas market of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine has tripled the nomination for the import of natural gas from Europe through Slovakia to 31.27 million cubic meters per day from May 1, 2017 (the average daily import of gas through Slovakia was 10.3 million cubic meters in April).

In the first quarter of 2017, Ukraine boosted importation of natural gas by 60.3% or 1,588.44 million cubic meters to 4,222.42 million cubic meters year over year (then the figure was 2,533.98 million cubic meters).

In the first quarter of 2017, like in the first quarter of 2016, Ukraine imported gas only from Europe as the one from Russia was ceased on November 25, 2015.
