The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade states that starting September 1, appointment of senior managers of state-run companies will be done by way of secret vote by nine ministers of the Committee for Appointment of Senior Staff of Companies Of Particular Importance to the Economy (the Nomination Committee of the Cabinet of Ministers). The Ministry of Economy wrote this in a statement posted on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports. "We reduced human factor: starting the fall, candidates are elected by the majority of vote of nine ministers, also taking into account consultative votes of eight representatives of international financial organizations and international experts on corporate management," the statement said with the reference to First Deputy Prime Minister \/ Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv. According to the report, the new procedure will allow to reduce the possibility of faulty appointments and will help to eliminate political pressure influencing the decision of the committee based on preferences of a certain minister. Previously, managers of the state companies were elected by open vote of five ministers. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman initiated revival of work of the Committee for Appointment of Senior Staff of Companies Of Particular Importance to the Economy (the Nomination Committee of the Cabinet of Ministers) in order to start appointment of chairpersons and members of supervisory boards of companies owned by the state.
