Montenegro, Albania, Norway, Georgia, and Ukraine have aligned themselves with the European Union's decision to extend its sanctions on Russia in response to the annexation of the Crimea until June 23, 2018.
This is stated in the "declaration by the European Union's High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries concerning restrictive measures in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol," Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The Candidate Countries Montenegro and Albania, and the EFTA country Norway, member of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine and Georgia align themselves with this Declaration," the declaration states.
According to the declaration, these countries will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.
The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it, the declaration states.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Council of the European Union decided on June 19 to extend its sanctions on Russia in response to the annexation of the Crimea until June 23, 2018.
The sanctions include a ban on import of products from the Crimea into the European Union; investment in the Crimea; provision of tourist services in the Crimea; export of goods and technologies to the Crimea for use by companies in the transport, telecommunications, and energy sectors, as well as those related to extraction of oil, gas, and mineral resources.
