Russian Supreme Court Raises Sentence For Crimean Tatar Zeitullayev From 12 To 15 Years In Prison

The Supreme Court of Russia increased the sentence for Crimean Tatar Zeitullayev from 12 to 15 years in high-security prison.

Member of Parliament Refat Chubarov (the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, who is the leader of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, wrote this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Zeitullayev's lawyer Edem Semedliayev wrote on his Facebook that Zeitullayev went on the third termless hunger strike.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September 2016, the North Caucasus Military District Court in Rostov-upon-Don sentenced Ruslan Zeitullayev to 7 years in prison.

However, in December 2016, the Supreme Court of Russia overturned the verdict against Ruslan Zeitullayev and the case was sent for new investigation.

On April 26, the North Caucasus Military District Court in Rostov-upon-Don, Russia, repeatedly sentenced Crimean Tatar Ruslan Zeitullayev to 12 years in high-security prison.
