The Ministry of Justice has appealed to the Higher Economic Court against the Kyiv Economic Appeal Court's decision that overturned the Kyiv Economic Court's decision to seize UAH 79.877 million in dividends payable to Gazprom gas company (Russia) from the Gaztranzit private joint-stock company (Kyiv) as part of the effort to recover UAH 172 billion in fine and penalties imposed on Gazprom by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.
Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko announced this to reporters, Ukrainian News reports.
"We have already filed an appeal. We consider this judicial decision illegal and biased," he said.
According to him, the Ministry of Justice has also sent materials concerning the judges that made the decision to the law enforcement agencies.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Kyiv Economic Appeal Court decided on July 17 to overturn the Kyiv Economic Court's decision of June 6 that authorized the State Bailiff Service to seize UAH 79.877 million in dividends payable to Gazprom from Gaztranzit as part of the effort to recover the fine and penalty totaling UAH 172 billion imposed on Gazprom by the Antimonopoly Committee.
Deputy Minister of Justice Serhii Shkliar said on June 29 that the State Bailiff Service had recovered UAH 79.8 million from Gazprom.
