The strength of the Russian military contingent in Crimea has doubled since March 2014.

Viktor Muzhenko said this at a joint meeting of the Military-Science Council of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

He says the amount of Russian weapons in he Russia-annexed Crimea has increased nearly fivefold since March 2014.

Muzhenko expects that the strength of the Russian contingent and weapons will double in future.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Muzhenko says over 30,000 Russian troops are on the occupied territories of Donbas and the Russia-annexed Crimea.

Muzhenko does not exclude that Russia is preparing deployment of nuclear weapons in the Russia-annexed Crimea.
