Ecology Ministry: Radiation Level In Fire Area In Lubianske Forestry Stable

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources states that the radiation level in the area of fire in the territory of Lubianske forestry (Chornobyl exclusion area, Kyiv region) remains stable.

Press service of the Ecology Ministry has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, control over the radiation level in the exclusion area has been beefed up.

The radiation level is continuously monitored by automated radiation monitoring system (ARMS) of the Ecocenter radiation gauging complex from 39 sampling points.

Under the emergency conditions, data is transmitted to the control center every two minutes.

In addition, Ecocenter dispatched a fully-equipped mobile crew to the scene to assess the situation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 29, in Chornobyl exclusion area, in the territory of Lubianske forestry, during deforestation works conducted for laying a rail track a fire flared up feeding on wood splints and dry forest cover and spread onto the area of approximately 20 hectares.

As at 11 a.m. the State Emergency Service (SES) continues extinguishing fire.
