United States Intending To Allocate USD 500 Million To Ukraine For Security Programs

The United States is intending to allocate USD 500 million to Ukraine for implementation of the security programs.

The Ukrainian Embassy in the United States wrote this on Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement reads that the U.S. foreign affairs committee has endorsed draft bill on the defense budget of the United States for 2018. The sum of USD 500 million will be allocated as assistance to Ukraine in the field of security.

The statement reads that the draft bill on the defense budget of the United States for 2018 also contains provisions that sanction provision of lethal defensive weapon to Ukraine.

The United States is intending to give material and technical assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine worth USD 127.5 million by the end of 2017.

Dmytro Hutsuliak, spokes person for the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, announced this at a news briefing in Kyiv on Friday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to him, the material and technical assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine will include medications, equipment for the plane of medical evacuation, 25 individual medical kits, spare parts for automobiles, equipment for training centers.

Since January 2017, the armed forces of Ukraine have received from the United States vehicular radiosets, off-road cars, mine detectors, computer equipment for work in field conditions, spare parts and other equipment within the material and technical assistance totally worth close to USD 30 million.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in mid June 2017, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that during his working visit to the United States he had had effective negotiations about providing of defense weapons to Ukraine.
