NACP Requesting Court To Fine MP Liashko UAH 11,900 For Running Polityka Newspaper

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention is requesting the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv to fine Member of Parliament Oleh Liashko UAH 11,900 for combining the powers of people's deputy and the managerial work in the closed joint stock company Editorial Office of Polityka Newspaper and for cheating the NACP.

A source in the National Agency on Corruption Prevention told this to Ukrainian News Agency.

According to the source, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention has established that Oleh Liashko was a member of a managerial body of the company in 2006 - 2016 and continues to hold a post in the board of the closed joint stock company.

In his declaration for 2005, Oleh Liashko wrote that he owns 33.3% of the shares of the closed joint stock company.

The law on prevention and fighting corruption required Liashko to hand to another person his corporate rights within ten days after his election as a member of the Verkhovna Rada in 2014.

MP Oleh Liashko has not provided documents proving his transfer of the corporate right to another person.

The law on prevention of corruption bans MPs being members boards or supervisory boards of companies or organizations.

In his written explanations to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention Oleh Liashko wrote he was not in possession of any shares of the closed joint stock company and had not communicated with it for more than ten years.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Member of Parliament Oleh Liashko denies running the company.
