The Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv has postponed hearing of the high treason case against deposed President Viktor Yanukovych until June 29.
The court based its ruling on the court's provisions that require the defendant, in this case Yanukovych, to fail twice to stand up in court for trial before the court can grant a petition of trial in absentia.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 16, the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv had accepted the indictment in the case against former president Viktor Yanukovych for on merits trial and refused to allow special (in absentia) court proceedings in the case.
