MP Linko Accusing Strana.ua Editor In Chief Huzhva Of Extortion For Withholding Of Discrediting Materials

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Linko (the Radical Party of Oleh Liashko parliamentary faction) states that Editor in Chief of the Strana.ua internet media Ihor Huzhva demanded money for not publishing of smearing materials.

The MP told this to journalists, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"In late March I started to receive threats and demands of payments for not publishing of compromising materials that had been obtained through surveillance over me... I have evidence that Editor in Chief Huzhva was personally involved," the MP said.

Linko spared other details for the reason of the ongoing investigation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 22, law enforcers detained Huzhva over suspicion of extortion.

Previously Huzhva stated that law enforcers conducted a search at the Strana.ua editorial office.

He considered the searches at the editorial office were related to critical publications about Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Radical Party of Oleh Liashko parliamentary faction Dmytro Linko.
