Obolonskyi Court Of Kyiv Summons Yanukovych For Next 10 Court Sittings, Notes Possibility Of Participation Via Video Conference

The Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv has summoned former president Viktor Yanukovych, who is accused of high treason, to the next ten sittings of the court and says Yanukovych can take part in the sittings via video links.

The summons was published on June 22 in the Uriadovyi Kurier government newspaper, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv will consider Yanukovych's case on its merits on June 26, 29, July 6, 12, 13, and August 3, 10, 17, 23, 31.

If Yanukovych fails to participate in the court sittings without good reasons the court can make a decision to continue the trial under the procedures of special (in absentia) proceedings.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv will start examination of the case against former president Yanukovych on its merits at 10 a.m. on June 26.

On June 16, the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv accepted the indictment in the case against former president Yanukovych and refused to allow special (in absentia) court proceedings in the case.

Yanukovych is accused of high treason.
