NACB, SACPO Prove Viability Of Graft Charges Against MPs Rozenblat, Poliakov Through Covert Surveillance

NACB, MP, SACPO, Boryslav Rozenblat, Maksym Poliakov

The National Anticorruption Bureau (NACB) and the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) have established involvement of Members of the Verkhovna Rada Boryslav Rozenblat (the the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction) and Maksym Poliakov (the People's Front parliamentary faction) in receiving of a USD 300,000-bribe through means of covert surveillance.

Ukrainian News Agency has learnt this from a source within law enforcement bodies.

According to the report, the investigative bodies wiretapped conversations of the MPs' aids and other suspects.

The source did not report whether the suspects had been covered by external video surveillance, or whether phones of Rozenblat and Poliakov themselves had been wiretapped.

At the same time the employee of the law enforcement bodies said that covert surveillance over members of the Ukrainian Rada was approved by either the Prosecutor General or his first deputy.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Prosecutor General's Office received from the SACPO and currently considers proposals for lifting of the parliamentary immunity of MPs Rozenblat and Poliakov.

The NACB and the SACP had arrested three aids of members of the Verkhovna Rada, a private guard and two members of a public organization over suspicion of taking USD 300,000 of bribe to be handed over to Rozenblat and Poliakov.
