President Petro Poroshenko states that during his working visit to the United States he had effective negotiations about providing of defense weapons to Ukraine.

President told this to the American Fox News during his working visit to the United States, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We had very effective negotiations about defense weapons. We said we did not need to attack anybody, but we want an effective defense mechanism. We want to have radioelectronic warfare, drones and other military equipment to defend our territory from Russian aggression and to put on displace for the rest of the world the objective and non-compromised information about who in fact violates the ceasefire, who and when launches assaults (including attacks on civil objects), who kills Ukrainian civilians and soldiers and who must stand before court," he said.

Head of state also said that there were 3,000 militaries from regular troops of the Russian Army and 40,000 militants engaged in war in Donbas.

President also added that the U.S. President Donald Trump assured him that the sanctions against Russia will remain in place until complete withdrawal of Russian troops and military hardware from Donbas and until Russia lives to its commitments under the accords signed in Minsk (the Republic of Belarus).

Answering the question from the host about the personal impression that Trump made on Poroshenko during their meeting and whether Poroshenko believed in the collusion between Trump and Russians during his presidential campaign, the President said Trump did not appear to be a man who would engage in any non-befitting conduct like that and that he made an impression of a charismatic leader, a good friend of Ukraine who can bring peace to the country.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 20, Trump assured Poroshenko about his support of the Minsk Agreements.
