Samopomich MP Bereziuk Goes On Hunger Strike To Support Lviv Community

Member of Parliament Oleh Bereziuk, the head of the parliamentary faction of the Samopomich Party, has announced his hunger strike in solidarity with the community of Lviv suffering from the problem with the removal of garbage in the city.

He announced his hunger strike at a sitting of the conciliatory council of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I am declaring the hunger strike in support to people of Lviv and in protest against the arbitrariness of the central government in Ukraine," he said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman brought his apologies to Lviv citizens for inability of local authorities to resolve the problem with removal of waste.

On June 12, the Lviv city council addressed the government, the Lviv Regional State Administration and the National Security and Defense Council asking to declare the state of ecology emergency in the city due to critical situation with household waste.
