Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman says he will suggest the Cabinet of Ministers allocating UAH 50 million from the reserve fund of the 2017 state budget for the construction of a new solid domestic waste landfill in Lviv region.

Prime Minister Groysman announced this during a special meeting on matters of preparation to winter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I am ready to submit a proposal to the government to allocate as an exception UAH 50 million from the reserve fund to the regional state administration for construction of a new solid domestic waste landfill," he said.

He also requested the local authorities of Lviv to calculate the time necessary for the construction of the new solid domestic waste landfill.

The prime minister also urged local authorities of other territories to help Lviv in removing garbage from the city.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi calls on Prime Minister Groysman to stop creating artificial obstacles for shipment of household waste from Lviv to alternative landfills.

Mayor Sadovyi considers the chastising by Prime Minister Groysman for the problem with stockpiling of waste a rudeness.

On June 12, Mayor House of Lviv addressed the government, the Lviv Regional State Administration and the National Security and Defense Council asking to declare the state of ecology emergency in the city due to critical situation with household waste.

According to Lviv data, as at June 12, the city stockpiled 6,850 tons of household waste that the city was unable to remove as most of the city contractors had no free space in the landfill.
