Suspected Organizer Of Attack On MP Chornovol Found Hanged In Interior Ministry Detention Center

Oleh Netrebko, the suspected organizer of an attack on Member of Parliament Tetiana Chornovol (People's Front faction), has been found hanged in an Interior Affairs Ministry detention center.

Yurii Maslak, the press secretary for the deputy minister of justice responsible for the penitentiary system, announced this to Ukrainian News Agency.

"He was found hanged not in jail, but in a temporary detention facility belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs," he said.

According to him, Netzabko was in the Lukianivka detention center (Kyiv) for one day (from May 12 to May 13) following his extradition from Belarus.

The place of subsequent detention of the suspect was determined by the Prosecutor-General's Office.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv sanctioned arrest of Netrebko for 60 days on May 13, following his extradition from Belarus.

Chornovol was brutally beaten by a group of people on a highway near Boryspil (Kyiv region) in December 2013.

Three people were detained and convicted.

Two suspects, including Netrebko, were put on the wanted list.
