Tourist Flow From Ukraine To Turkey Up 11.39% To 159,000 In 4M

The flow of tourists from Ukraine to Turkey increased by 11.39% to 158,944 people in the period of

January-April this year, compared with the same period of 2016.

The Turkish embassy in Ukraine announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the statement, the most popular destinations among Ukrainians remained Antalya, Istanbul, and the resorts of Mugla (Fethiye, Dalaman, Bodrum, and Marmaris).

In particular, 95 514 Ukrainian tourists visited Istanbul in January-April (which represents a reduction of 3.1% compared with the number that visited the city in the same period of 2016), 1,165 visited Mugla (an increase of 66.43%), and 136,399 visited Antalya (an increase of 53%).

At the same time, Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism expects the flow of tourists from Ukraine to increase when the agreement on travel between Ukraine and Turkey based on internal passports (ID cards) enters into effect on June 1.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine and Turkey launched a passenger ferry service between Odesa and Istanbul in early April.

Ukraine and Turkey reached agreement on travel between the two countries based on ID cards in mid-March.
