The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine has called on representatives of international missions in Donetsk to help locate 27-year-old blogger Stanislav Aseyev, known under the pseudonym Stanislav Vasin. The Union announced this in a statement. "Since the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine does not have official representatives on the territory temporarily uncontrolled by the Ukrainian authorities, we applied to the OSCE Representative Office on Freedom of Media in Vienna with a request that the representatives of the OSCE SMM learn about the situation on the ground in Donetsk. We also sent a letter to the International Committee of the Red Cross with a request to meet with the mother of the missing colleague and find out what assistance she needs," chairperson of the Union Serhii Tomilenko said. He explained this with the fact that international missions can directly address "those who now control the situation in Donetsk" in order to obtain reliable information that will help determine the next steps. In particular, the Union hopes to find out where Aseyev is located, and in case of arrest - what he is accused of, whether he has access to a lawyer, needs medical help, whether he was allowed to see his mother. In her turn, the representative of the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine, Jessica Barry, confirmed the receipt of such a request from the Union and promised to contact colleagues in Donetsk for information.
