The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the European Agreement on the Transmission of Applications for Legal Aid.
A total of 231 parliamentary members backed respective bill No. 0148, when 226 votes enough to pass the decision, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The document is destined to remove economic obstacles hindering access to justice and will simplify exercising of rights of disadvantaged social groups of participating states.
The Agreement was opened for signing in Strasbourg (the French Republic) on January 27 and took effect on February 28, 1977.
It has already been ratified by 32 Council of Europe member countries and signed by three more states including Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 4, 2016, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Council of Europe signed the European Agreement on the Transmission of Applications for Legal Aid.
