Rada Allocates Additional UAH 273.3 Million For Financing 2017 Local Elections

The parliament has allocated an additional UAH 272.321 million for financing local elections in 2017.

The relevant draft law (No. 6431) was approved by 271 votes, with only 226 votes required for its approval, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The relevant amendments were made to the draft law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2017."

The Central Electoral Commission had received from regional administrations requests to schedule the first local elections in 34 united territorial communities as of April 24.

There are also plans to create an additional 503 united territorial communities.

UAH 267,229,800 is required for financing the first local elections in these communities.

An additional UAH 7,033,900 needs to be allocated for financing preparation for and organization of the local elections that the parliament may schedule in the course of 2017.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Central Electoral Commission asked the Cabinet of Ministers and the parliament on April 24 to allocate an additional UAH 272.321 million for financing local elections in 2017.
