Petro Poroshenko Bloc Urging NACB, SACPO To Probe Gas Purchase Deal Between Naftogaz, Gazprom In 2009 For Signs Of Corruption

The Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction urges the National Anticorruption Bureau and the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office to launch a probe into a purchase and sale contract of natural gas signed between the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company and gas monopolist Gazprom (the Russian Federation) in 2009 for possible corruption.

Chairperson of the faction Artur Herasimov has said this at a meeting of the conciliatory council, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Herasimov also urged the parliamentary Committees on National Security and Defense and on Corruption Prevention and Counteraction to hear from Chairperson of the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Association parliamentary faction Yuliya Tymoshenko about the aforesaid contract in order to reveal facts of high treason and graft.

Herasimov stressed that there was no political implications for the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction in this initiative.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 31, the Stockholm Arbitration rejected a claim from Russian gas monopolist Gazprom under the take or pay provision and upheld claims of Naftogaz to revise a price in a contract with Gazprom and cancelled a restriction for re-export of gas.
