The Ministry of Defense does not intend to send forcibly to the zone of antiterrorist operation (ATO) reserve officers who had been called into service.

Spokesperson for the General Staff Vladyslav Selezniov told the Ukrainian News Agency.

According to Selezniov, only officers who signed a respective contract and filed an official statement will be sent to ATO.

In addition, officers who signed a contract, before being transferred to the ATO areas, will be trained for at least three months at special military training facilities.

Selezniov added that, virtually, this is the first time when Ukraine invokes this part of its military doctrine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Defense intends to call 1,000 of reserve officers into military service in June.

The General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine explains calling of reserve officers to military service with the need for logistics personnel.

According to Selezniov, the reserve officers will serve in non-tactical military units.
