Court Acquits Stakhanov's Mayor Borysov Accused Of Separatism

The Kreminskyi District Court (Luhansk region) has acquitted Mayor of Stakhanov Yurii Borysov accused of separatism.

Assistant to Judge who handed down the verdict Valeriya Kovaleva told this to the Ukrainian News Agency.

She also said that the suspect did not make any plea bargains.

Borysov was detained in July 2014.

He was accused on counts under Section 3 Article 110 (infringement of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine that resulted in human death or other grave consequences), Section 1 Article 258-3 (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization), Section 2 Article 364 (abuse of power or office resulted in serious consequences) of the Penal Code.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the prosecutor's office of Luhansk region intends to appeal the acquittal verdict to former "minister of coal industry and energy" of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic Serhii Baranov.
