Food Safety Service Registers One More Case Of Botulism In Kyiv

The State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection has registered a new case of botulism in Kyiv due to the use of dried fish, bought in the supermarket.

The Food Safety Service announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is reported that the patient purchased dried fish in the Auchan hypermarket, located on 2 Shukhevycha Avenue.

The medical staff had a preliminary diagnosis of "botulism", the patient was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Oleksandrivska Clinical Hospital in Kyiv.

The report notes that the Auchan Ukraine company withdrew from its stores 11.7 kg of dried white bream, 18.2 kg of dried walleye pike in the form of straws and 10.7 kg of dried walleye pike.

In addition, experts of the Main Directorate of Food Safety Service in Kyiv region withdrew from the sale of 405.01 kg of fish products produced by the individual entrepreneur Merkulov.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 27-29, the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection registered three cases of botulism in Kyiv, including one with a fatal outcome due to the use of dried fish, bought in a supermarket, and on May 30 - a case of botulism in Kherson.
