President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has decided to close his official pages on VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks.
He wrote this on his official pages on VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Ukrainian internet providers must stop providing access to VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex and other Russian services. All official pages of the President on the services will be closed," he wrote.
President Poroshenko explains that his team used pages on some Russian social networks to influence on opponents and for counter propaganda, as the hybrid war required adequate answers to challenges.
He adds that mass cyber attacks of Russia worldwide, including the recent interference in the election campaign in France, show that the time is ripe to act more resolutely.
He says the pages of the President of Ukraine will be on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
The official page of the President of Ukraine is working also.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has enacted a resolution of the National Security and Defense Council to ban providers from rendering services of access to resources of Mail.ru, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and Yandex.
