Member of Parliament Andrii Artemenko (independent) has announced that he has been banned from entering Ukraine.

Artemenko made this announcement on the 112 Ukraine television channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I cannot come to Ukraine right now because I have received an official response from the Migration Service and border guards, stating that I have been banned from entering the territory of Ukraine with my three foreign passports," he said.

According to him, he is currently in Washington (United States), where he is "defending his rights."

The Parliamentary Committee on Rules and Organization of Parliamentary Work prepared a draft resolution on termination of Artemenko's parliamentary mandate on Monday.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Artemenko confirmed on February 27 that he has Canadian citizenship.

The State Migration Service confirmed on May 5 that President Petro Poroshenko had stripped Artemenko of his Ukrainian citizenship and that he considered this decision to be lawful.

Artemenko has asked the Higher Administrative Court to invalidate Poroshenko's decision and cancel the relevant presidential decree.
