Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin says the country is holding negotiations with 27 countries on visa-free regime for citizens.
Minister Klimkin announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"At present we have 52 countries with whom visa-free regime is in effect. After the Schengen zone opens for us, we will have another 26 countries of the European Union and four more countries. We are holding negotiations with 27 countries regarding the facilitation and we have plans to open negotiations with a number of countries within weeks," he said.
He says the countries include countries of Asia and Latin America.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 11, 2017, the Council of the European Union adopted a regulation on visa liberalization for Ukrainian citizens.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will visit Strasbourg, France, on May 17 to sign a document on provision of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians.
The decision on visa liberalization for Ukrainian citizens will take effect after its official publication.
The visa-free regime will enter into force 20 days after its publication (approximately on June 11).
